Thiran -alumni visit : Mr.Balaji Sheshadri (accet alumnus) is to visit our campus coming Saturday to conduct a session on embedded C . Interested students were advised to register their names to their respective Thiran OGC(ororganizing committee members). Mechasso: "MECHASSO" (Mechanical association of ACCET)was inaugurated on August 21. The Chief guest Mr. S.Baskaran ME., (Argos pvt ltd) an entrepreneur gave lots of lively concepts about entrepreneurship. Certificates were distributed for our college's SUPRA, EFFICYCLE and SOLAR-CAR teams. Arduino- an introduction : Arduino    is an  open-source computer hardware and software company, project and user community that designs and manufactures  microcontroller -based kits for building digital devices and interactive objects that can sense and control the physical world. A pencil ! What can a pencil do apart from writing scriptures?  Can a pencil be converted to a soldering rod ?  Yes! and here's the possibility of using pencil as a heater element . Apparatus required  : 1.Normal pencil /mechanical pencil 2.soldering lead 3.12 v ,6Abattery 4.connecting wires as required Procedure : 1.Cut size the pencil such that a provision for wire .Cut it along its curved surface area without damaging the graphite lead in the middle . 2.Connect positive terminal of the battery to the pencil . 3.Negative is connected to the soldering lead . 4.Start soldering in the usual method with the only exception that we are using a pencil instead of a heating rod! Not a pen ,also pencil is mightier than sword ! Delnet services are open to student use in our college.Recently a notification has been put up in the college library. Solar water pump's market  is growing day by day .Need to know how it works ?Try here with a simple model Components required : 1.Solar panel -9v 2.A toy motor 3.plastic arrangements in the form of a tube 4 .Worn out Sim cards (for impeller construction) 5.Super glue/fewikwik and hot glue 6.A wooden stick (demo purpose) Procedure : 1.Make a small plastic casing which should fit around the motor.Make it air tight with the help of super glue.Two perpendicular tube shaped structures (suction and delivery pipe ) should be fixed in the casing . 2..Connect the  respective terminals of solar plate and motor . 3.Use a stick to give support to the set up. 4.Impeller construction: Use Sim card frames to make impeller which should be fixed to the rotating end of the motor. 5.Give  a trialrun   to the pump by immersing the suction end in a bucket of water .
