The
Rotaract club of our college conducted the event named HD 2.0 on 12.09.19 in Mechanical classroom. The students were
divided into teams of four and they had to find the word RACKUP. They had to
use the clues to find the location in college to get the letters of the word.
The participants who found the word were awarded.

“NEXTGEN LAB” which helps students to enrich their knowledge in the field of
IOT, AI, ROBOTICS . A workshop on “INTERNET OF THINGS” for a count of 49
students of Third and Final year students is being conducted at the Lab from
Monday and it will continue till Saturday. Experts from ‘SMARTBRIDGE” came up a
long way from Bangalore to train the Students. The topics covered were based on
ESP32, cloud computing,AI, raspberry pi. And for their better understanding students have been split into different teams.
Each team does a specific project. The sessions are very useful for the
students in their projects and for their future studies.
ENGINEERS' DAY
From the invention of the wheel in
ancient history to the modern day drones, engineering constructs have provided
the vital push for the progress of human technology. Taking note of how
important engineers are for the growth of nations, countries around the world
celebrate the Engineer’s Day.
While Russia celebrates it on December
22, Mexico on July 1 and Italy on June 15, India has marked September 15 as the
National Engineer’s Day. This is because to appreciate the contributions of
Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya who was born on September 15, 1861 in a village
called Muddenahalli in Karnataka.
A Bharat Ratna awardee, Visvesvaraya had
studied Bachelor of Arts (BA) from the University of Madras and pursued civil
engineering at College of Science in Pune.
He patented and installed an irrigation
system with water floodgates at the Khadakvasla reservoir near Pune to raise
the food supply level and storage to the highest levels. This was also
installed at Gwalior’s Tigra Dam and Mysuru’s Krishnaraja Sagara (KRS) dam, the
latter of which created one of the largest reservoirs in Asia at the time.
Visvesvaraya was not only known for his
contributions in the field of engineering but was also called the “ precursor
of economic planning in India”, according to the Institution of Engineers India
(IEI). It stated that he is best known for his discourse “Planned Economy for
India and Reconstructing India” which is the first of its kind to describe the
country’s planning efforts.
He went on to become India’s most
prolific civil engineer, dam builder, economist and statesman. He was one of
the most prominent builders of India in the 20th century.
On the eve of Engineers' day, lets all
be proud to be future engineers.

Here are answers of the last week's kindle your brain
1.The answer is b) 65
Alternately, add 5 and subtract 7
2.The answer is c) 35%
Let E1 = Event that A speaks the truth
and E2 = Event that B speaks the truth.
Then, P(E1) = 75/100 = ¾,
Then, P(E1) = 75/100 = ¾,
P(E2) = 80/100 = 4/5, P(E1') = (1 – ¾) =1/4,
P(E2') = (1 – 4/5) = 1/5.
P( A and B contradict each other) = P[(
A speaks the truth and B tells a lie) or ( A tells a lie and B speaks the
truth)]
= P[( E1 and E2') or (E1' and E2)] = P(E1
and E2') + P(E1' and E2)
= P(E1) . P(E2') + P(E1') . P(E2)
= ( ¾ × 1/5) + ( ¼ × 4/5) = ( 3/20 + 1/5
) = 7/20
= (7/20 × 100 )% = 35%.
3. The answer is b) 80
Required number of ways
= (5C1 × 4C2) + (5C2 × 4C1) + (5C3)
= (5C1 × 4C2) + (5C2 × 4C1) + (5C3)
= (5 × (4×3)/(2×1)) + ((5×4)/(2×1) ×4) + ((5×4×3)/(3×2×1))
= ( 30 + 40 + 10 ) = 80.
4. The answer is b) 5.00 a.m. on
Wednesday
Time for 1 p.m. on Tuesday to 1 p.m. on
Thursday = 48 hours.
So, the watch gains (1+2) min or 3 ins in 48 hrs.
Now, 3 min are gained in 48 hrs.
So, the watch gains (1+2) min or 3 ins in 48 hrs.
Now, 3 min are gained in 48 hrs.
So, 1 min is gained in (48/3) = 16
hours.
Thus, the watch showed the correct time
16 hrs after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, i.e. 5 a.m. on Wednesday.
5. The answer is b) 205 sec
In a km race, suppose A takes t sec.
Then, B takes (t+30) sec and C takes(t+45) sec.
180 m is covered by C in 45 sec.
180 m is covered by C in 45 sec.
Therefore 1000 m is covered by C in ( 45
/ 180 × 1000) sec = 250 sec.
A covers 1000 m in ( 250 – 45 ) sec =
205 sec.
