AWARENESS PROGRAM



As the year 2019 ends with a serious outbreak of  “Corona”, the virus which is now in 2020 becoming a huge threat to the people all over the world. COVID19 was initially detected in the city of “Wuhan”, Beijing in China. The  major cause for the outbreak of Corona is the bat's meat. A very well organized campaign for creating awareness about this COVID19 was conducted in our college on 10, 11 & 12 of March in Murugappa hall which headed by our principal Dr.R. Shanmugalakshmi and vice principal Dr.R.Malayamoorthi and the session was handled by Dr.Sameer and Dr.Keerthika sensing that “prevention is better than cure”, and the vote of thanks was given by  Dr.K.Baskaran, HOD of EEE Department. As the vaccine for this virus was not still discovered. It will take 1.5 to 2 years to develop a vaccine for the virus-said by the government. By the doctor’s advice, the mode of spreading of this virus is through air. So we must keep ourselves clean and safe from the virus. It is necessary to wash our hands minimum 10 times a day and take healthy foods & 3 litres of water per day to keep ourselves healthy. So be aware of the causes and the preventive measures to be on the safer side.

NSS CAMP


The National Service Scheme of our college has organized a 7 day special camp in the theme of “Youth for Cleanliness” in the village of Kothari. About 141 students attended the camp. The camp was organized by the program officers of NSS Professor K.T.Loganathan, Professor S.Pauline and Dr.S.Geetha from 05/03/2020 to 11/03/2020. The NSS Volunteers had actively participated in the field work, survey and other events. The best volunteers were awarded with  medal.

MOTIVATION CLASS

Motivating young bloods is very important in this era. Our college never leaves a single opportunity to increase the enthusiasm among students on various fields. Mr.Kanagasabapathi from PSR college was invited to conduct a motivational session for III year students. The event was organised in Sangamam Hall on 12.03.2020. ECE and Mechanical department students attended the forenoon session and EEE, Civil, CSE students attended the afternoon session. He guided the students, motivated them and discussed about the importance of placement. Students found this discussion as very useful to mould them in a right way.

YRC


Our college YRC unit had organised an fun event on 12.03.2020 at 4.30 p.m.  Students actively participated in the event and made it as an interesting evening. Students who performed well were awarded with prizes

Albatross



Albatross is a large sea bird which is known for its soaring flying ability. It belongs to the biological family Diomedeidae.  It can be seen in the southern and north pacific oceans. They spend most of their life in sea. They land for breeding only. They have a lifespan of about 60 years. There are 22 species of albatross family of which 17 are endangered species.
They die due to oil spills, pollution of ocean and fishers hook.It has the longest wingspan which can be 2.5 to 3.5 m .The length of the body is 107-135cm. Their weight can be 13-28 lb. Albatross glide on air currents instead of flapping the wings.  They fly for hours without flapping their wings.It's flying speed is 108 km /hr. It's major foods are shrimps, squids, fish,octopus and crabs. Also it feeds on zooplanktons. It lays a large white egg.  It's hatching period is 70-80 days.

Albatross is a sign of good luck.  A bird with wings that span the whole sky! The ruler of the sky! A metaphor in poems!

14 March - International Day of Action for Rivers

Every year on 14 March, International Day of Action for Rivers is observed to raise voice to protect rivers and demand for improving the policies for Rivers. It is a day to educate one another about the threats facing our rivers and to find solutions.
15 March - World Consumer Rights Day

It is observed on 15 March every year for raising global awareness about consumer rights and needs. This day is a chance to demand that the rights of all consumers are respected and protected and to protest against social injustices.
16 March - National Vaccination Day

On 16 March every year, National Vaccination Day is observed in India which is also known as National Immunisation Day (IMD). It was first observed on 16 March, 1995 when the first dose of Oral Polio Vaccine was given. It is an attempt to increase awareness for the eradication of polio from the planet earth.
18 March - Ordnance Factories Day (India)

On 18th March, Ordnance Factories Day is observed every year all over India. On this occasion, the Ordnance Factory, Field Gun Factory, Small Arms Factory, Ordnance Parachute Factory, and Ordnance Equipment Factory acknowledge the day.
