THE ACCET TIMES

THE INDIAN HISTORY:

Partition of Bengal:

The first partition of Bengal was a territorial reorganization of the Bengal presidency implemented in 1905. The partition separated the largely Muslim eastern areas from the largely Hindu western areas on 16 October 1905 after being announced on 20 July 1905 by Lord Curzon, the then viceroy of India. Hindus were outraged at what they saw as a divide and rule policy(where the colonizers turned the native population against itself in order to rule), even though Curzon stressed it would produce administrative efficiency. Muslims tend to form their own national organization on communal lines. In response to the Swadeshi movement’s riots in protest against the policy, Bengal was reunited by Lord Hardinge in 1911.

LAW:

Right To Information Act-2005

This law was passed by Parliament on 15 June 2005 and came fully into force on 12 October 2005. Every day, over 4800 RTI applications are filed. In the first ten years of the commencement of the act over 17,500,000 applications had been filed.

RTI is a fundamental right for every citizen of India. The authorities under RTI Act 2005 are called quasi-judicial authorities. This act was enacted in order to consolidate the fundamental right in the Indian constitution ‘freedom of speech’. Since RTI is implicit in the Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression under Article 19 of the Indian Constitution, it is an implied fundamental right.

Information disclosure in India is restricted by the Official Secrets Act 1923 and various other special laws, which the new RTI Act relaxes[citation needed]. Right to Information codifies a fundamental right of the citizens of India. RTI has proven to be very useful, but is counteracted by the Whistle Blowers Protection Act, 2011.

The Right to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2019, seeks to amend Sections 13, 16, and 27 of the RTI Act. Section 13 of the original Act: It sets the term of the central Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners at five years (or until the age of 65, whichever is earlier)

ANSWER FOR LAST WEEK QUESTIONS

1)ANSWER: Option(A) 10 days

Solution:
Part of work completed by Mohan in 1 day = 1/12
Part of work completed by Vijay in 1 day = 1/15
Part of work completed by Mohan in 4 days = 1/3
Work remaining = 2/3
Time taken by Vijay to complete the remaining work = (2/3)/(1/3) = 10 days

2)ANSWER: Option(B) 1568

solution:
The team can consist of
3 boys, 3 girls
4 boys, 2 girls
5 boys, 1 girl
6 boys.
No.of ways =(8C3*5C3)+(8C4*8C2)+(8C5*8C1)+(8C6)
(56*10)+(70*10)+(56*5)+28
= 1568

3)ANSWER: Option(B) 60 minutes

solution:
Let the leak take x minutes to empty the bucket.
Part of the bucket filled by the tap in 1 minute = 1/10
Hence,
(1/10)-(1/x) = (1/12)
So, x = 60 minutes

4)ANSWER: Option(A) 14.25 kg

Solution:
Amount of contamination in the bag
= 7.5% of 57
= (7.5*57)/100
Let x kgs of Pure dhall be added to the bag.
((7.5*57)/100)/(57+x) = 6/100
Therefore, x = 14.25 kg

5)ANSWER: Option(C) Friday

solution:
Day before yesterday was 25th December (Friday). Today is 27th December (Sunday).
