Electronic component tester

An electronic component tester -hand made .How would it be ? With the tag of made in home.
Components required
1.An small plastic  box
2.A resistor -1k
3.Dc Jack
4.Transistor -BC 547
5.Batteries -2.4 V
6.Led -2

Procedure
1.Make small holes based upon requirement upon the lid of the plastic box.
2.Cathode terminals of both LED's connected to the negative of  the battery 3.Anode terminal of one LED is connected to the emitter of the transistor .Another anode is soldered with a wire which should project outside the lid.
4.The collector  of transistor is connected to the positive of the battery.
5.Resistor is connected between base terminal and positive of DC jack.Negative terminal of DC jack is connected to battery (-).
6.From positive terminal of the battery solder a wire which should also project outside.

If the component (electronic) is  placed between the two wires LED glows indicating the working state  of the component .Forward and reverse bias conditions of diodes can be used to know the anode and cathode terminals practically.

You don't need a multimeter always !

DC jack arrangement is provided in this case as rechargeable batteries were used.
