ROTARACT - PROJECT NESAMANI

Rotaract club of our college have successfully implemented the ‘Project Nesamani’ on 26th January 2023. The purpose of this project is to remove all the nails from trees of our place which destroys that particular area of cells and reduces the growth of the trees. The project had three phases comprising the routes from Alagappa University to Sriram Nagar, Sriram Nagar to Ragavi Mess and Sriram Nagar to Science block. 12 rotractors took active participation and done a great job for nearly 9 hrs from 8am to 4pm. We, citizens are really grateful for your noteworthy effort.

FRESHERS - MUTIFY

On 17.01.23, Freshers association of our college conducted an interesting event for our freshers called “Mutify”.  A set of numbers were written on the board and students were asked to choose a number. For every number, there exists a corresponding movie clip and the students were asked to recreate the scene. Many students participated in the event and won prizes.

LEO'S - FUN TASK TIC

As a part of the weekly club activities, the Leo club of our college conducted an indoor fun event named “Fun Task Tic” on 25th January 2023 in the mechanical classroom for our first-year students. The event comprised of many fun games. The students actively participated in the games and enjoyed it thoroughly.

NATIONAL VOTERS DAY PLEDGE

IF YOU DON’T VOTE, YOU LOSE THE RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. To educate the importance of voting to the students our college has conducted an awareness program in our college campus. The awareness program includes the voters pledge in our state language Tamil. Each and every student took their pledge to vote fearlessly in every election without being influenced by consideration of religions, race, caste and community. The Head of the departments and professors at our college also took part in the pledge becoming the role model for the students. To make this pledge even more powerful and true we made it happen on the 13TH NATIONAL VOTERS DAY which is 25TH OF JANUARY 2023.We will forever remember January not only for spring but also for our pledge.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATION

On January 26, nearly 74 years ago, India declared itself a sovereign, democratic, and republican state with the adoption of the Constitution. This remarkable day is celebrated as Republic Day. India’s 74th Republic Day is celebrated in our college on Thursday with a parade by NCC cadets. The national flag is hoisted by our honorable principal Dr. P.K. Palani. Staff and students of our college actively participated in this occasion. The flag fluttering in the air gave the day a lovely setting.

PYTHON WORKSHOP

The freshers’ association of our college organized a workshop on ‘Python’ for our first-year students on 26th January 2023 from 9:30 to 5:30. All arrangements for the workshop were made for the students in the Sangamam Hall. One of our final year student F. Santhosh Kumar from mechanical department conducted the program with two batches of students. The students interested in learning the programming language had taken part. One batch was allotted in the morning session and other batch had their training in the afternoon session. Around 160 students attended the workshop and got benefitted. Groups of students were each given assignment to solve based on what was taught. This helps them to recall and memorize what they have learnt effectively. In this day and age, programming has become a necessity, so this workshop has helped numerous students who are new to the concept of programming.

BATTERY RECYCLING

High-value metals recovered from old laptops, corroded power drills, and electric vehicles could power tomorrow’s cars, thanks to recycling advances that make it possible to turn old batteries into new ones.

Demand for lithium-ion batteries is skyrocketing as electric vehicles become more common. Greater use of electric vehicles is good news for the climate. But supplies of the metals needed to build battery cells are already stretched thin, and demand for lithium could increase 20 times by 2050.

Recycling may help. Older methods of processing spent batteries struggled to reliably recover enough of these individual metals to make recycling economical. But new approaches have swiftly changed that, enabling recyclers to more effectively dissolve the metals and separate them from battery waste.

Recycling facilities can now recover nearly all of the cobalt and nickel and over 80% of the lithium from used batteries and manufacturing scrap left over from battery production—and recyclers plan to resell those metals for a price nearly competitive with that of mined materials. Aluminum, copper, and graphite are often recovered as well.

China leads the world in battery recycling today, dominated by subsidiaries of major battery companies like CATL. The EU recently proposed extensive recycling regulations with mandates for battery manufacturers. And companies in North America, like Redwood Materials and Li-Cycle, are quickly scaling operations, funded by billions of dollars in public and private investment.

Battery demand is expected to grow exponentially for decades. Recycling alone won’t be enough to satisfy it. And these new recycling processes aren’t perfect. But battery recycling factories will create a supply of materials the world needs to meet its climate goals.
