BIS CLUB MEETING

On August 11, 2023, in the virtual hall, the Madurai branch of the Bureau of Indian Standards held an event to educate students in the civil department about the ISI standards of various industrial items that are used in our daily lives. The organization also raised awareness of the significance and identification of the gold HUID number. Additionally, they ensured that each participant in the room had the BIS care program installed and understood how to use it. The association also held a competition for students to write “STANDARDS” with a ballpoint pen in order to increase their understanding of the background of acquiring ISI standards. Every student took part with great enthusiasm, and those who excelled were awarded cash prizes of ₹1,000, ₹700, ₹500, and ₹250 as first, second, third, and consolation prizes. From the student feedback, we can indeed observe their awareness of using and promoting the BIS care app.

TECHBYTES

Edge computing is a new way of handling data in the tech world. Instead of sending all the data to faraway servers, it’s processed closer to where it’s created, like on devices or sensors. This is super useful for things that need quick responses, like self-driving cars or smart factories. Because the data doesn’t have to travel as far, it gets processed faster, which is great for things that need to happen in real time. Plus, only important data is sent to big servers, so it saves internet space and money. Another cool thing is that your private info can stay more private since it doesn’t always have to go to big servers. While there are some challenges like managing lots of devices and making sure everything works together, edge computing is making stuff like smart cities, health devices, and even shopping better. And it’s getting even better with fancy things like using AI and mixing different kinds of computing. So, edge computing is like bringing the power of big computers closer to you!
