HISTORY:

Quit India Movement

In August 1942, Gandhiji started the 'Quit India Movement' and decided to start a mass civil disobedience movement 'Do or Die' to force the British to leave India. However, The movement was followed by extensive violence at railway stations, telegraph offices, government buildings, and institutions of colonial rule. There were widespread acts of obstruction, and the government held Gandhi responsible for these acts of violence, suggesting that they were a intentional act of Congress. However, all the prominent leaders were arrested, the Congress was banned and the police and army were brought out to suppress the movement.

At the same time, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, who stealthily ran away from the British detention in Calcutta, reached foreign lands and organized the Indian National Army (INA) to overthrow the British from India.

"Give me blood and I shall give you freedom" - was the most popular statement made by him, where he urges the people of India to join him in his freedom movement.

ANSWER FOR LAST WEEK QUESTIONS

1)Answer: Option(A) 11 pm

Solution:

Time from 5 am on a day to 10 pm on 4th day = 89 hours

Now 23 hours 44 minutes of this clock = 24 hours of correct clock.

356/15 hours of this clock = 24 hours of correct clock

89 hours of this clock = (24×31556×89) hours of correct clock.

= 90 hours of the correct clock.

So, the correct time is 11 p.m.

2)Answer: Option(C) 7:45 in the next morning

Solution:

We know that the time difference between India and USA is 9 hours 30 minutes.

India is 9:30 hours ahead of USA.

Time in India = 4:15 + 9:30 = 13:45 PM

Required time after 18 hours = 13:45 + 18 hours = 7:45 AM.

So, it is 7:45 AM on the next morning.

3)Answer: Option(C) 10 years

Solution:

Ram's age when he was born = 0

His brother's age = 6

His father's age = brother's age + 32 years = 6+32 = 38 years

His mother's age = father’s age – 3 = 38-3 = 35 years

So sister's age = 35-25 = 10 years.

4)Answer: Option(D) Rs.474

Solution:

Area of 4 walls = 2(l+b)h = 2(10+7)×5 = 170 m².

Area of 2 doors and 3 windows = 2(1×3) + (2×1.5) + 2(1×1.5) = 12 m²

Area to be planted = 170-12 = 158 m².

Cost of painting = Rs.3 × 158 = Rs.474

5)Answer: Option(D) 12 km

Solution:

Speed of boat in still water = 9 km/hr

Speed of current = 3 km/hr

Downstream speed = 9+3 = 12 km/hr

Upstream speed = 9-3 = 6 km/hr

Let the distance from A to B be X km.

(X/6) + (X/12) = 3

3X = 36

X = 12 km.

So, the distance between A and B is 12 km.
