Automatic Plant Irrigation system (THIRAN ver.2K14/Phase-II)         In present days agriculture farmers are facing major problem in watering their crops.  This automatic irrigation system senses the moisture content of the soil and automatically switches the pump when the power is on. MAIN COMPONENTS :          1.7404 HEX INVERTER (operating voltage range is 4.4v to 5.5v),          2. Two 555 TIMER          3. Electronic valve.          4. Probes. OPERATION :     The soil resistance is sensed by HEX  INVERTER  and makes the first monostable multivibrator to activate at pin2, its output at pin3 is given as input to second astable multivibrator and generated output makes the relay inturn to operate the electrical valve. So when the soil cond...

Automatic application form and hall ticket printing (Thiran 2014) Unlike Civil and Mechanical projects, projects in CSE will not require much of raw materials. But one thing is very necessary, logical thinking. With logical thinking and a little programming skills anyone can make software. There are various facilities available in the market for developing software of various criteria. SOFTWARE REQUIRREMENTS:   CODING LANGUAGE     :   .Net Backend                             :  Ms access Other Softwares              :    doPDF Imported Files                 :    PDFsharp .Net: The Microsoft .NET Framework (pronounced dot net) is a software framework developed by Microsoft that runs primarily on Microsoft Windows. Here I’ve used VB to develop the project. PDF SHARP : PDFsharp is a...

Cam mount on a cycle

Its a holiday and you wouldn't have access to soldering rods and all those stuff .So,here's a simple model to start recording your cycling adventures . Apparatus required : 1.A bicycle  2.A camera  3.A bolt and nut   4.An old plastic frame  5.Engineer grade sellotape Procedure : 1.Every digital camera will have a provision to mount it over a stand . 2.Use a bolt and nut arrangement to mount it on a cycle handle bar . 3.Make a plastic frame for extra reinforcements and cover up using engineer grade sellotape (you can get that from any hardware shop around ) 4.Once all set , you are ready to hit the roads .Double check the arrangements if the camera isn't your own (hah!!) 5.Once you have achieved success with the above model .Try this one too  All you need for your android phone to be converted as a GPS device is an old plastic frame and a bicycle. Caution : The on road feasibility of the above two mo...

A CCIDENT MESSENGING SYSTEM (Thiran 2014) INTRODUCTION: It would be amazing if an accident can locate itself and sends a message of its location for help, it would save numerous lives. This project presents an accident alert system which instantly sends text messages to the predefined mobile numbers about the accident. CIRCUIT COMPONENTS: 1.PIC Microcontroller 16F73      2.MEMS Chip ADXL202E 3.GSM Modem 4.GPS Module 5.Power Supply 6.Voltage Level Convertor /*these components can be bought from electronics shop (near Fivelamps) in the name of order */ ABOUT THE COMPONENTS: MEMS:                    The MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) is a kind of sensor that can detect acceleration, tilt, shock and vibration. The basic principle of operation behind the MEMS accelerometer is the displacement of a small proof mass etched into the silicon surface of the integrated circuit and suspended ...

Remote controlled bulb

Image
It is  always good to operate an electrical appliance with a remote control .It will be very useful to old aged people to have all the controls in a single remote (wouldn't it?) And it would cut the costs required for switch boards at least. Apparatus required : 1.IR sensor TSOP1738 2.Resistors -330k(2),I K ,220k 3.Transistor -BC 548,558 4.Capacitor -100 uf (16V),0.1uf 5.IC 4017 6.LED- red and green 7.Relay switch -5V 8.Battery (5V) /Adapter with a DC jack 9.Remote (TV /DVD) 10.Bulb (230V) and some connecting wires Procedure : 1.Make connections as per the circuit diagram: 2.The remote control module is readily available in the market .We tried it with one like that but instead ,breadboard connections would do fine with the above mentioned components . 3.Special thing is about the relay switch it has Normally open and normally closed terminals which gets closed due to magnetism when supply is switched ON via DC jack to the remote controlled module....

Previous years Thiran projects are a big source of knowledge . ACCET NEWS now comes up in bringing all the posts you need from the past!        Here comes the H(DT)^2  series  -' How Do They Do That'         Hybrid Vertical Axis Wind Turbine                                   -  THIRAN version 2014          Everyone can't have a conventional horizontal axis wind turbines on their roof!! Here comes TECHWIZARD'S with their specially designed "Hybrid Vertical Axis Wind Turbine" to eliminate this issue.  Components required : 1.Aluminum foil       (from a paper press in Karaikudi near five lamps.) 2. Belt and pulley    (was brought from a hardware shop.) 3.Wheel                 (was brought from a cycle shop.) 4. Shaft   ...

Simple clap circuit

Image
How good it would be if you can switch on electrical appliances by just clapping your hands (the King style )!  The basic of that thought process is a simple clap circuit. Apparatus required : 1.IC 4017 2.Potentiometer 10k 3.IC LM 741 4.Led 5.Resistors -1 k,10 k ,22 k ,470k 6. 9 V battery 7.Microphone 8.Bread board 9. Wires as required. Procedure : 1.Connect the parts as shown in circuit diagram.(its just child's play) 2.Once the connections are over ,give the power supply and check the working of the circuit . Adjust the potentiometer to control the resistance. In the shown  case below ,instead of bread board we have done it with a PCB board which was fabricated at ACCET . The PCB design was facilitated with the use of chemicals(cupric chloride+HCl. It is none other than commercial nail polish remover) to etch the design of circuit on board. Ki cad software was used for the design. To know more on PCB design, Drop a mail to accetnews@gmail....

Soldering using a pencil

Image
A pencil ! What can a pencil do apart from writing scriptures?  Can a pencil be converted to a soldering rod ?  Yes! and here's the possibility of using pencil as a heater element . Apparatus required  : 1.Normal pencil /mechanical pencil 2.soldering lead 3.12 v ,6Abattery 4.connecting wires as required Procedure : 1.Cut size the pencil such that a provision for wire .Cut it along its curved surface area without damaging the graphite lead in the middle . 2.Connect positive terminal of the battery to the pencil . 3.Negative is connected to the soldering lead . 4.Start soldering in the usual method with the only exception that we are using a pencil instead of a heating rod! Not a pen ,also pencil is mightier than sword ! Please do try this in your place of choice .In case of mechanical pencil , you can save time for shaping the pencil for usage .You can directly connect the supply to the graphite lead . Heater element (temperature control...

As a tribute to the Missile man of India ,we have started a new science column in our blog. Mini Soldering table:  A normal soldering helper table would cost around 1000 rs. We(engineers) are always interested to reduce the cost by some means.Dinesh Singh of III year EEE had created a mini soldering table at a manufacturing cost of 40 rs! The one available in market Dinesh Singh with his 40rs table Apparatus required 1.Magnifying glass 2.Led bulb 3.Two clips  4.Few wooden pieces 5.Screws 6.Double sided tape Procedure: 1.Take a small wooden piece and cut size it . 2.Make small holes using a nail upon the top end to mount the magnifying glass. 3.Fix two clips at two ends of a small wooden stick and mount it upon the bigger one using small screws. 4.Make a turn table arrangement using a screw  before mounting the upper glass. 5.A small led bulb can be placed upon the glass for illumination powered by a small battery. Cover the loose ends . ...
