Pongal is a "Harvest festival" ,where people thank the Sun God for agricultural abundance.In South India People celebrate this festival as pongal and in north as Makar Sankranthi. The word Pongal means "overflowing" which
signifies abundance and prosperity.

The social networking survey -results
The accetnews team conducted a survey this week to study the networking pattern of students. As a sample study 25 boys and 25 girls were asked to answer the same set of questions. This result may account to ACCET as a whole.
1.Android vs others
As expected android phone users were the majority .State of the art android phones are the cool gadgets of students.

Here starts the interesting part in survey. Even 20 hours net usage per day was also a registered entry. On an average 5 hours net usage per day was recorded.
Peak networking time in a day was
also queried.If you need to catch an ACCETIAN on net night 8-12 is the best time.
4. Recharge amount spent :
It was found that nearly 80 percent student expenditure on mobile recharge was above 200 rs. Per month. The top networks in hostel is either airtel or bsnl.
Other domains were also studied in this survey. Most of the results would match with any student of 21 st century. But only a 2 percent was recorded under the category that on net time was really useful.
Math contest SRINIVASA RAAMANUJAM(ISTE)
The first round of this competition (college level) was held on November 1,2014.Of the 45 students who participated in first round, only 7 students (2- third year and 5 -second year students) were selected for the next round ie.)zonal level. The zonal level exam was held at Tanjore Periyar Maniyammai University on January 9,2015. Only 3 students from all the zones will be selected for national level. The results will be published on February 9,2015 and national level exams will be on February
25,2015.
