Automatic Plant Irrigation system

(THIRAN ver.2K14/Phase-II)
       In present days agriculture farmers are facing major problem in watering their crops.
 This automatic irrigation system senses the moisture content of the soil and automatically switches the pump when the power is on.

MAIN COMPONENTS :
         1.7404 HEX INVERTER (operating voltage range is 4.4v to 5.5v),
         2. Two 555 TIMER
         3. Electronic valve.
         4. Probes.


OPERATION :


    The soil resistance is sensed by HEX INVERTER and makes the first monostable multivibrator to activate at pin2, its output at pin3 is given as input to second astable multivibrator and generated output makes the relay inturn to operate the electrical valve. So when the soil condition is dry , resistance will be high and relay on the electrical valve and water rushes out from it and the inverse case occurs when the soil is wet .

ADVANCEMENTS :


    Further advancements can be made with more accuracy using microcontrollers  , GSM based irrigation, SOLAR smart irrigation etc.
