GST

What’s GST – Goods And Services Tax. We all may have a question, why in the world would we need GST replacing current methods. The main motto is ‘One Nation, One Market, One Tax.’ People were smashing the heads before July 1, 2017, that how GST would be, and now they still smash trying to embrace it.
Now let’s begin from the alphabets, what’s a tax – Money paid to the government which is imposed on our income, profit, goods, service, etc. Generally, there are two types of tax – Direct tax (corporate tax, income tax, wealth tax) and Indirect tax. Indirect tax (duty tax, sales tax, service tax, VAT, etc.) whose liability can be shifted to someone else is replaced by GST. The main benefit of GST is the manufacturer or the distributer will pay the tax only for the profit and not for their whole price, which of course reduces the consumer price.
GST is the combination of Central GST (CGST) and State GST (SGST)/Integrated GST (IGST). Integrated GST is nothing but the tax paid while transferring goods between states. The things which don't fall under GST are alcohol, crude oil, petroleum, diesel, aviation fuel, grains.
Boon:
As you can see, we have 0% tax on grains, which is the greater good for farmers and consumers. One tax over the nation removes economic barriers. Domestic products are widely promoted which provides lots of job opportunities.
Bane:
As sides of the coin, where it is good, there is some bad. Critics are there that GST favors the rich and stabs poor. People with low income find it hard to pay GST.
So let’s make up our mind that ‘everything is for good’ and in the long run, we will make our move with GST. ‘Change is the only thing that doesn’t change.’ So let’s live with changes and make changes.

Our trip to Steel Authority of India, Bhilai consisting of 11 fourth year students and 4 third year started in chaos with minimum possibility of confirmation of tickets. Everyone’s hope lost. This happened because of the mistake was done by ticket vendor. However, our tickets were confirmed and we reached Bhilai. First four days, safety classes and registrations were undertaken. The training started. Great difficulty we faced in our trip was the language barrier. With the help of the alumni’ Mr.Murugan and Mr. Pandiyarajan, we managed it. Despite the difficulties, we enjoyed the trip. Apart from these things, we managed to learn somewhat about the manufacturing processes.
Our sincere thanks to  Mr.Shyam (2009-2013) alumni for providing this excellent opportunity.
