ZEAL PROGRAMME
Zeal means “enthusiasm”. In our college, our students are eagerly participating in Zeal training every weekend. The training is being provided by our alumni, Ravikumar sir. He worked as a professor in our college for the Mechanical department. He is providing the training dedicated to III year students. He helps the students improve their vocabulary, communication skills, reading skills and also providing placement training. He conducts two sessions per week for nearly four hours. Students can also borrow his novel collection to improve their reading skills. Last week the students were asked to share their unforgettable moments which all enjoyed. Students wait for his sessions every week.
CLUB EVENTS
LEO EVENT
A big opening to this busy week was given by our Leo club of ACGCET through a non - technical event namely "KURAL OVIYAM" on 15.07.2019. Many students from II, as well as III years, participated in this event. The students who had participated in the event were split up into a group of three. The main theme of the event is to express the Thirukkural given to the students in the form of drawing and convey it to the rest of the team members. They had also conducted a small debate and chosen the best orator among the participated ones. Finally, the prizes were disturbed to the winners.
ROTARACT EVENT
LATERAL ENTRY COUNSELLING ENDED
Our college is known for many specialties, in that sequence conducting the Lateral entry counselling in our college is really a pleasure. The lateral entry admissions (direct entry into second year B.E.,/ B.Tech., courses) under Anna University in all over Tamilnadu for the year 2k19 started on July 11 and ended by 18th of July. The administration team which includes our faculties nearly strived hard for more than a week.
KAMARAJAR - THE KINGMAKER
“Face the problem. Don’t evade it. Find a solution however small. People will be satisfied if you do something.”-by the great leader of simplicity and integrity Kamaraj to his government where his rule was considered as a Golden time of Tamil Nadu.
POLITICAL LIFE:
A simple person and not highly educated, but enough with sense and knowledge. Kamaraj who born on 15 July 1903, in Virudhunagar of Tamil Nadu, from a trading family, was well known for his integrity and simplicity. He was a drop out from school, but a great genius who realized the importance of education and had become a self-learner during his imprisonment in the freedom struggle. At the age of 16, as a full-time Congress worker, he also participated in the march to Vedaranyam as part of the Salt Satyagraha. Kamaraj was arrested when he was 27 and sent to Jail in Calcutta for two years. Kamaraj's political guru and inspiration were S. Satyamurti, an orator and parliamentarian. Both developed a deep friendship and complemented each other’s skills. In 1936, Satyamurti was elected as President of the Provincial Congress Committee and he appointed Kamaraj as the General Secretary. After becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu his most important aim was to improve the literacy rate in Tamilnadu.
SERVICE TOWARDS EDUCATION:
He reopened 6000 schools closed by previous government due to financial reasons and opened more than 12000 schools. The State made immense strides in education and trade. School with better facilities were started during his period; No village remained without a primary school and no panchayat without a high school. Kamaraj strove to eradicate illiteracy by introducing free and compulsory education up to the eleventh standard and also introduced the Mid-day Meal Scheme to provide at least one meal per day to the millions of poor school children at the first time in the whole world. He introduced free school uniforms to weed out caste, creed and class distinctions among young minds.
LATE LIFE:
On October 2, 1975, Gandhi Jayanti day, Kamaraj awoke from his afternoon nap feeling uneasy and the next morning he left this world in his sleep. He was honored with the highest civilian honor, the 'Bharat Ratna' posthumously in 1976.

LEONARDO DA VINCI
Leonardo da Vinci, the man who had mastered almost everything and known best for his inventions, paintings and sculptures was dyslexic. He had also interests in science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, anatomy, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history and cartography. But, one remarkable indication that he was likely dyslexia is in his handwriting. Leonardo while sketching out his ideas for inventions, wrote his notes in a reverse mirror image which is a sign of dyslexia.
PARROTS- THUG LIFE
Keas are large, intelligent parrots that live in alpine (high mountain) areas of New Zealand’s island. They are the world’s only alpine parrot and are known for their curious and sometimes cheeky behavior near ski fields where they like to investigate bags, steal small items and damage cars.

NPTEL provides E-learning through online Web and Video courses in various streams. ·It is one of the fundamental goals of the project to bring in all the best teachers in the country under the umbrella of NPTEL and record their lectures/seek their collaboration with IITs/IISC and make their courses available for the community under free and open sources agreement.

Each year on July 24, it is National Amelia Earhart Day. This day honors the famous aviation pioneer, Amelia Earhart and celebrates her birth. Author and American aviation pioneer, Amelia Mary Earhart was born on July 24, 1897. Earhart flew solo across the Atlantic Ocean on May 20, 1932. As a result, she became the first woman pilot (aviatrix) to complete the journey. Setting this record earned Earhart the United States Distinguished Flying Cross. Her accomplishments would inspire women around the globe to the world of aviation.
