In this month of technical fests ,Electronics and Communication Department has successfully conducted the National level technical symposium on 18th October at Sangamam Hall.This symposium is special for the department of ECE since this was their 25th national level technical symposium and also Golden jubilee for their department. Dr.M.Periyasamy, Principal of Syed Ammal Engineering college,Ramanathapuram was the Chief Guest. Our Principal, Dr.R.Shanmugalakshmi mam presided over the function. All teaching , non-teaching staffs and students of ECE department attended the function. Students from various colleges came to participate in various events like Project, and Paper presentation. And also various general, fun and technical events were conducted for them.They also conducted Workshop on "Internet of things" for the 2nd,3rd,4th year students. DR.KR. Ramela

ZONAL SPORTS
"Success is where preparation and opportunity meet". Our athlete champs scripted a remarkable victory in Anna university zone XVI -Zonal sports meet under the category of athletic sports held at KLNCE , Madurai on 19.10.2019 and 20.10.2019 .We congratulate the following champs.

CLUB EVENTS
LEO
Leo club of ACGCET conducted an event "Ted talk " on 21.10.2019 at 5.00 p.m. As the name suggests, the event is to provide a motivational session to the students. Our final year students Manikandan (Mechanical dept - placed in Accenture )and NIVETHA (CSE dept - placed in Accenture) maneuvred the session. They insisted on the importance of on-campus placement and encouraged the students to attend the campus offers.
FRESHERS
A well known club of ACGCET never failed to create enthusiasm to the young buddies,Yeah Fresher’s Asso.. No less to comparison this week Tuesday (22.10.2019) the event has been conducted. And the event is still more interesting ,it is simple a team composed of three member and each are provided with headphones which renders music with high volume. A person at one end is given with a dialogue and he/she has to find the dialogue and deliver it to the other member who in turn convey to the last member. It is filled with a burst of laughter when each team come with different dialogue other than the given dialogue. Other event consists of a group of cups on the floor and eyes were kept closed just by giving different instruction the team member has to guide them to come out of the path. Overall it is fulfilled one with lots of fun.

CSE WORKSHOP
Department of CSE organised a two days workshop on " Threat hunting and analysis -The hacker's way " on 21.10.2019 and 22.10.2019. The chief guests were Shyam Sundar Ramasami and Pandi Chandran Pitchai from Cisco System, Bangalore. The inaugural function was held on 21.10.2019 venued at cse seminar hall at 9.30 AM. The event was graced by the HOD of CSE department Dr. K. Chandraprabha mam and all the faculties of CSE department. The inaugral address was delivered by our vice principal DR. Malayalamoorthy and felicitation address was delivered by Dr.K.Baskaran, HOD of EEE department. Students from third and final year were part of it. Under the twinning activity of TEQIP, a professor from our mentee college(in jharkhand ) also attended the workshop. As a part of the workshop students were given three real time malware and were taught how to solve it. They were also educated about Machine Learning.
DEFTERA' 19
Department of CSE in our college conducted thier intra year symposium "Deftera" on 23.10.19. The symposium had various events. It included online event- Codelenza and offline events- Bug-gi-cide, Brain teaser, Google It, Refratu(Paper presentation), Geeks(Technical quiz) and Kwiz Conquers(General quiz). The symposium was conducted by final year students of CSE department. All the second and third year students actively participated in all the events. Refreshments were provided. It all ended with the validictory event where all the winners were awarded. Professor K.Chandraprabha, HOD of CSE department delivered the welcome address. Dr. C. Umarani addressed the gathering. Vote of thanks was delivered by the students secretary Vignesh.
GENERAL ARTICLE
MTNL merged with BSNL
In order to revive loss-making telecom PSUs BSNL and MTNL, the government today decided to merge the two ailing firms as part of a revival package that includes raising sovereign bonds, monetising assets and voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for employees.
As part of the revival package, MTNL will be merged with BSNL. Pending this, MTNL will act as a subsidiary of BSNL. MTNL is listed but has its net worth already eroded. BSNL is unlisted.
Announcing a four step revival plan for the two companies, telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said government wants to make the two state-owned telecom companies more competitive by putting in Rs 29,937 crore.
Prasad said the government will raise Rs 15,000 crore through sovereign bonds. "Assets worth Rs 38,000 crore will be monetisated in four years, 4G spectrum will be allocated to BSNL and MTNL. The allocation of 4G spectrum to them would be done at 2016 prices and administratively and government will offer an attractive VRS package for employees in both the companies.
Giving an example of the VRS package, Prasad said any employee above the age of 53 and half, who opts for the VRS, will be given 125% remuneration of the salary, pension and gratuity till the age of 60.
BSNL, which is yet to pay employee salaries, has a monthly bill of Rs 850 crore on this count, and has a staff 1.76 lakh on its roll. BSNL has an estimated loss of Rs 14,000 crore in 2019 fiscal.

Audiovisual documents, such as films, radio and television programmes, are our common heritage and contain the primary records of the history of the 20th and 21st centuries. Unfortunately, that heritage is now endangered, because sound recordings and moving images can be deliberately destroyed or irretrievably lost as a result of neglect, decay and technological obsolescence. Through initiatives such as the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage and the Memory of the World Programme, the work of preservation professionals is encouraged, in order to manage the range of technical, political, social, financial and other factors that threaten the safeguarding of our audiovisual heritage.

31 October - Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day is observed on 31 October every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. He had played an important role in unifying the country.
