NOBEL PRIZE

The Nobel Foundation has declared the complete list of winners for 2019 as of now. This year 15 eminent personalities would receive the highest honour, on December 10, for their individual contributions in the fields of medicine, physics, chemistry, literature, economics and in peace. Laureates, except peace prize winners, will receive their prize in Stockholm. Nobel Peace Prize will be given at Oslo, Norway.
From 1901 till 2018, 908 laureates and 27 organisations have received the Nobel Prize. The awards are instituted by the Nobel Foundation based on the recommendations from The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences for the Nobel Prize in Economics, Physics and Chemistry, Karolinska Institute for the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, the Swedish Academy for Literature, and a Committee of five persons elected by the Norwegian Parliament (Storting) for the Peace Prize.

No person can nominate herself or himself for a Nobel Prize. Candidates are nominated by their respective academies, universities, previous Nobel Laureates and others in September. The Nobel Foundation doesn't reveal the names of the nominees until 50 years later.

Here's a complete list of Nobel Prize winners of this year:

Medicine: William Kaelin and Gregg Semenza of the US and Britain's Peter Ratcliffe split the nine million Swedish kronor ($914,000, 833,000 euros) award this year for discoveries on how cells sense and adapt to oxygen availability, paving the way for new cancer treatments.

Chemistry: John B Goodenough, Stanley Whittingham, and Akira Yoshino would receive this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry for developing the lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are today used in everyday items; from mobile phones to remote controls and even electric vehicles.

Physics: Canadian-American cosmologist James Peebles and Swiss astronomers Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz would share this year's Nobel Prize in Physics "for theoretical discoveries that have contributed to our understanding of how the Universe evolved after the Big Bang".

Literature: Polish author Olga Tokarczuk and Austrian novelist Peter Handke would receive 2018 and 2019 Nobel Prize for Literature. The prize was postponed in 2018 after the academy was hit by a sexual assault scandal.

Peace: Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed would be given the Nobel Peace Prize this year for ending 20 years of hostility with neighbouring Eritrea.

Economics: Indian-American Abhijit Banerjee, his wife Esther Duflo, and Michael Kremer will share the Economics Nobel prize 2019 for their "experimental approach to alleviating global poverty".

2. Men and Women Dream Differently :  Researchers have found some differences between men and women when it comes to the content of their dreams. In several studies, men reported dreaming about weapons significantly more often than women did, while women dreamed about references to clothing more often than men. Another study showed that men's dreams tend to have more aggressive content and physical activity, while women's dreams contain more rejection and exclusion, as well as more conversation than physical activity.

OPPORTUNITIES IN YOUR HANDS

MBA after Engineering

Why do MBA after engineering? What are the advantages? Are there any disadvantages too? Whether to choose MS, M.Tech. or MBA after B.Tech.? These are some of the questions that keep running through the minds of those engineers who want to try their luck in higher studies or those who are not happy with their current situation after completing engineering. Following are some pointers that will help answer these questions.

Get A Business Approach With MBA After Engineering

An MBA program gives engineers more exposure to business and management related issues which lack in an engineering program. An MBA degree adds strategic & qualitative skills to students’ analytical capability, making them a perfect choice for any employer.
Furthermore, for those engineers who are planning to run their own business or to do consulting, an MBA makes sense. MBA will help in better understanding of the fundamentals of business that supplements the engineering and technical side. One becomes great in finding technical solution to the problem keeping the business principles in mind.

MBA for Faster Promotions

Getting faster promotions is one of the most important advantages of MBA after engineering. Having an MBA degree one can develop team leading & group management qualities, and hence those engineers having supplement of management can get faster promotions than those without an MBA.

MBA for Better Job Opportunities

Finding a job in this cut throat competition is really very tough in today’s market. You have to stand out of crowd in order to get a satisfactory job. And having an MBA will help a candidate to do the same in the crowd of just engineers. So, getting a good job is another benefit of doing MBA after engineering degree.

Get Some Experience Before Applying for MBA

Engineers should get job experience in their field before going for MBA. This will help them analyzing the corporate environment, their interests, various business & management fields. And after having one -two years of experience they will have a better idea whether they want to pursue MBA or not, and if yes, then what should be the field they opt for. The fields can be of their own choice like HR, Finance, Marketing, IT etc. However, nowadays a lot of students prefer MBA in finance after engineering.

Engineers Having No Interest in Technical Field

There are a lot of engineers who are not actually interested in computers or technology. They just got into engineering by luck, by chance or because they were not clear about their interests & goals. This mistake can be overcome by opting for MBA after completing engineering. Students can save their career from ruining by going for desired field in MBA as it is open for graduates in all fields.

Engineers Having Deep Interest in Technical Field

And those students having deep interest in their core technical field should consider themselves lucky. They should opt for an advanced technical degree (M.Tech. or MS) if they are interested in doing research work in core technology.
Finally, it is clear that doing an MBA after engineering is always advantageous for students. However personal goals & interests always matter. Choose the path that will differentiate you in the competition and aligns with your goals and desires. All the best!
