READING MATTERS

"No matter what rock is in the way, no matter what storm is on the way, the water ultimately going to go down the river "

These are the words of  one of the highest paid female athlete, Goodwill ambassador of UNDP, Ambassador of world's top brands, influential sports woman, a famous tennis player and an Entrepreneur who is known for her mental toughness and struggling personality!  Maria Sharapova.....

 I think everyone of us know her as a famous tennis player who became famous after  winning the 2004 Wimbledon Championship .  But the story has started somewhere else! In a small town of Russia when a 4 year old girl held the tennis racket. If you guys want to know the journey from a small town of Russia to Florida, just take a look at 'Unstoppable: My life so far', a memoir by Maria Sharapova. This memoir tells about her Unstoppable attitude. We could even say that the book is more about Sharapova's father who dedicated his life in the making of a champion.

It is not  one of those rags to riches story, but a unique one. From the preface itself, we can understand that. Rather reading we can listen to her inspiring journey!
Devote some time for reading in this quarantine !
Stay home! Stay safe!

ANSWERS OF LAST WEEK

1) ANSWER- C) 15

Let the present ages of son and father be x and (60 -x) years respectively.

Then, (60 - x) - 5= 4(x - 5)

55 - x = 4x - 20

5x = 75  => x = 15

2) ANSWER - D) 1.5 Kmph

 Speed of boy is B= 4.5 Kmph
 Let the speed of the stream be S= X Kmph
  Then speed in downstream= 4.5+X
  Speed in upstream= 4.5-X
  As the distance is same,
             4.5+X = (4.5-X) 2
             4.5+X = 9-2X
             3X = 4.5
             X = 1.5 Kmph

3) ANSWER - A) 1999

 NOTE - Repetition of leap year = Add +28 to the Given Year.
  Repetition of non leap year
  Step 1 : Add +11 to the Given Year. If Result is a leap year, Go to step 2.
   Step 2:  Add +6 to the Given Year
   Since the given Year is 1993, Which is a non leap year.
    Step 1 : Add +11 to the given year (i.e. 1993 + 11) = 2004, Which is a leap year.
    Step 2 : Add +6 to the given year (i.e. 1993 + 6) = 1999
    Therefore, the  calendar for the year 1993 will be same for the year 1999

4) ANSWER - A) 10 Litres

Number of litres of water in 125 litres of the mixture = 20% of 150 = 1/5 of 150
 = 30 litres.
Let us Assume that another 'P' litres of water are added to the mixture to make

water 25% of the new mixture. So, the total amount of water becomes (30 + P)

 and the total volume of the mixture becomes (150 + P)

 Thus, (30 + P) = 25% of (150 + P)
 Solving , we get P = 10 litres.

5) ANSWER - B) 154

The diameter is equal to the shortest side of the rectangle.
 So radius= 14/2 = 7cm.

 Therefore, area of circle = πr(22/7)X49= 154 sq.cm
