Cabinet
Mission - 1946:
Cabinet Mission was a high powered mission sent in February 1946 to India by the British Government. The mission had three cabinet members- Pethick Lawrence, Stafford Cripps and A.V. Alexander. It aimed to discuss the transfer of powers from the British Government to the Indian leadership, with the aim of preserving India’s unity and granting its independence. The mission proposed a complicated system for India with three tiers: the provinces, provincial groupings and the centre. The centre’s power was to be confined to foreign affairs, defence, currency and communication.

ANSWER
FOR LAST WEEK QUESTIONS
1)Answer:
Option© 200,360,160
Solution:
Let
the ratio be X.
Hence,
number of coins be 5X, 9X, 4X respectively.
Now,
given total amount= Rs.206
(.50)(5X)
+ (.25)(9X) + (.10)(4X) = 206
We
get X = 40
Therefore,
number of 50p coins = 200
Number
of 25p coins = 360
Number
of 10p coins = 160
2)Answer:
Option© 4:5
Solution:
Let
the third number be X.
Then,
first number = 120% of X = 120X/100 = 6X/5
Second
number = 150% of X = 150X/100 = 3X/2
Ratio
of first two numbers = (6X/5) : (3X/2) = 12X:15X = 4:5
3)Answer:
Option(B) 64%
Solution:
Let
the number be X.
Then,
ideally he should have multiplied X by 5/3. Hence correct result was X*(5/3) =
5X/3
By
mistake he multiplied X by 3/5.
Hence
the result with error = 3X/5
Then,
error = (5X/3) – (3X/5) = 16X/15
Error%
= (error/true value)*100 = [(16X/15)/(5X/3)]*100 = 64%
4)Answer:
Option(A) 48 min. past 12
Solution:
Time
from 8 a.m. on a day to 1 p.m. on the following day = 29 hours.
24
hours 10 min of this clock = 24 hours of correct clock
145/6
hours of this clock = 24 hours of correct clock
29
hours of this clock = 24*(6/145)*29 hours of the correct clock
=
28 hours 48 min of the correct clock
Therefore
the correct time is 28 hours 48 min after 8 a.m. i.e.) 48 min past 12
5)Answer:
Option(A) 25200
Solution:
Number
of ways of selecting (3 consonants out of 7 and 2 vowels out of 4) = 7C3*4C2 =
210
Number
of groups each having 3 consonants and 2 vowels = 210
Each
group contains 5 letters.
Number
of ways of arranging 5 letters among themselves = 5! = 120
Required
number of ways = 210*120 = 25200.
